When I first got into photography back in high school I bought a used photography book that explained all the basics of the medium. The book had a chapter on portraying motion in a photo, which was an idea that was completely new to me. The chapter had a thumbnail example of a dancer with tracers following and documenting her exact movement, and I was amazed by the effect.
That photo has been in my mind ever since, and since I have access to a studio and a 4x5 camera on campus (not to mention a beautiful dancing model), I decided to honor that memory.

I have to make a book of photos for one of my classes and I decided to make mine focus on abstracting statues and outdoor sculptures by changing the context in which they're viewed. This is the photograph that inspired the idea. The title is from a poem in a song by The Sound of Animals Fighting.
